SAR members are dedicated individuals: each one commits to a minimum of 176 hours of uncompensated training time annually. Mission response usually accounts for an additional 67 hours per member per year. With a roster that includes almost 40 active SAR members, we devote no less than 7,533 man-hours annually to search and rescue activities. Many of our active members go well above and beyond the minimum training hours, attending classes, conferences, and regional trainings with other emergency response organizations. SWVaMRG is comprised mostly of Virginia Tech students, although we welcome and encourage members of the community to join in the fun!
